Said an anonymous ism thinker of dwarfism:

I think dwarfism is funny. Not ha-ha funny, just odd. Why are these few unfortunate people born this way? Why them? Why not someone else? I can’t imagine what it must be like going through life several feet shorter than most other people.

The thing about an ism like dwarfism is that it’s unusual to “us”, but it’s every-day life to “them”. Why does our anonymous ponderer assume little people are unfortunate?

I’ve known little people, and none of them have been unfortunate. Disadvantaged due to their size, yes. Bereft of fortune, absolutely not.

I remember being a kid who’s smaller than everyone else, and I remember how it felt to be smaller. But I suppose when it comes to really putting myself in a little person’s shoes, my feet don’t fit.
