Lots of bad things happen. But God is in control over everything. God’s mind is much bigger than ours, so we don’t really know why things happen as they do. Sometimes it doesn’t make sense to us. Often it doesn’t. But it does to God. Job’s suffering didn’t make sense to Job but from God’s perspective, He allowed Job to suffer so we can understand something about God in relation to human heartbreak. So, no matter what happens, I’m optimistic because God is in control. I may not like what is happening, and God’s plan for me may be difficult (think of the Apostle Paul’s life), but God is in control and I’m not. That’s a good thing!
