What are isms?

Why, the very fabric of the grand old U-S-of-A: the mightiest nation in the world, and we owe it all to words that end in i-s-m.

The crucial importance of isms to our very existence as a nation is the very thing that makes isms worth talking about now, and that’s why isms were interesting back in the 1930s when Lionel Barrymore starred in the cinematic classic, “You Can’t Take It With You“, which contains the quote that inspired me to write about isms.

Writing about isms

My original plan was to write about all 888 isms in one year or less. And for some reason, I thought the best way to write that many posts in one year was to write ridiculously long posts about random isms.

I got about a half-dozen done, and Whew! That was a lot of work. So I took a well-deserved break.

Four months later, I’ve come to the realization that there’s no getting away from isms. You can live in a tree or walk the Earth or meditate in cave, but life’s too short for that isolationism crap.

So I’M’ at it again…at least for one or two posts.

Maybe this time I’ll try a little brevity on for size.
